KPI is pleased to announce that Dr. Kaveh Zamanian will teach Psychoanalytic Theory: Psychology of Gender in the summer session. This course is designed to teach the basic psychoanalytic theories in the study of gender. The content and process of this course is designed to facilitate an understanding of the contextual and psychological forces that shape the development of feminine and masculine identity and gender roles. The class will begin with an account of the historical and cultural dimensions of gender and move into a survey of relevant theories of gender development. Then the role of gender will be explored and examined in relation to important human constructs such as identity, sexuality, self-expression and clinical practice. Theoretical concepts will be considered in relation to different clinical situations with the goal of better understanding the impact of gender on therapeutic goals and process. The remaining classes will be given on Tuesdays, starting on July 14. The Tuesday times will also be 11:00 AM til 12:30 PM. Those wishing to complete the class will be required to register and pay fees and tuition by the second class on Tuesday, July 14. The class syllabus and tuition and fee information are available on this website by clicking on Course Schedules. 15 hours Continuing Education Credit for LMFTs, Psychologists, LPCs and Social Workers have been approved by Kentucky State Boards and may be obtained upon completion of the course and payment of all fees. |
