Since its beginning, the Kentucky
Psychoanalytic Institute has relied on distance
learning as a means of offering the
necessary courses to its candidates. Several
faculty members live outside of Kentucky and
have relied on telephone conferencing
as a means of teaching and communicating
with the candidates during class.
This method is acceptable but lacks the face
to face benefits of communication.
In the winter of 2005 the Kentucky
Psychoanalytic Institute invested in a technology
upgrade that allows for video conferencing
communications and high speed internet
access. The changes allow for an array
of new teaching methods. The Institute can
now offer courses to candidates anywhere in
the world with live real time video
conferencing, distant faculty members can
connect to students through video,
and KPI sponsored seminars can be accessed
through mp3 and video format. |
